This is an excavated Civil War period combination knife, fork, and spoon. This is the type that separated into two halves so you could hold the knife in one hand and the fork / spoon in the other. The entire body of the knife is iron and rusty but all blades and dividers are discernable. The spoon is brass with a nice chocolate brown patina. There remains a portion of the original wood handle on one side, under the spoon bowl. The condition of the piece is very good and it has been cleaned and coated. This was recovered from City Point, Virginia, the site of a massive Union supply depot. [jet]
