Oval stamped brass plate with “OVM” on the face. The surface of the face is dark with some waviness due to ground action. There is some light discoloration around the letters and some minor scratches but overall the face is in nice shape.
The reverse has 100% of the lead fill and still retains both puppy-paw style hooks and tongue. Lead has discolored from being in the ground.
This pattern plate has one thin arm on the letter “V” and the letter “M.” According to “AMERICAN MILITARY BELT PLATES” by Michael J. O’Donnell and J. Duncan Campbell this plate was produced between 1861-1863.
