$225.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 819-15

This is a heavy iron octagonal barrel which meas. approx. 42.75 inches long. The metal surface is dark due to electrolysis to remove rust. The barrel surface is pitted throughout and in many places it is severe. Still present however, are the rear sight and one of the under-pin loops.

One note of interest is that the breech-plug was removed at some point and an inspection of the interior of the breech will reveal that there is still a ball inside. Any black powder was long removed when the breech-plug was taken off.

This relic was dug at Vicksburg, Mississippi, site of the long siege by General U.S. Grant of Confederate forces under General John C. Pemberton.
