This item is the brass throat only of a Pattern 1853 Enfield bayonet scabbard. Some of the original leather still remains inside the piece. The item has the typical green patina found on dug brass items.
Typed tag with the item reads “CONFEDERATE ENFIELD BAYONET SCABBARD TOP COLD HARBOR, VA. BATTLEFIELD JUNE 27, 1862.”
