This is a very nice two piece tongue and wreath “CS” plate. The two pieces were found 25 feet apart but no doubt go together. The patina matches perfectly and the tongue and wreath fit together like a hand in a glove. Each piece has an attractive deep dark patina and is free of any dings or dents. When hooked together and set on a table the plate has a slight convex curve to it. For a dug example it may be hard to find a better one. All details on the wreath are easily visible and the “CS” casting is good.
Item comes housed in a riker box. Under the foam padding of the riker box is a hand drawn map showing where the plate was recovered in 1990. The area was located near the famous “Bloody Angle” or “Mule Shoe.”
