Item Code: 1139-49

Beautiful, waist-up, ninth-plate image of a young, clean-shaven Southern artilleryman wearing a light shell jacket with cloth epaulettes and red tinted collar, cuffs and piping. The tinting is really well done and accentuates the image nicely. The subject also wears a vest with a deep neckline held closed by a two button tab at center and by a row of buttons at the bottom. The subject’s cheeks are also tinted rose.

Clarity and contrast are exceptional.

Image has a decorative brass mat and stamped brass frame and comes housed in a case with a split seam but that is otherwise very nice. [ad] [ph:L]
