CDV is an unidentified image of a middle-aged captain posed in front of a painted backdrop of a room in a house with an open door looking out into a garden. He is posed standing next to what looks like a sofa with one hand resting on the back of a chair by his side.
The subject wears a dark frock coat with captain’s shoulder straps. Coat is open to reveal matching dark vest and trousers.
Attached to the image, about knee high to the subject, is a very clear and clean gem sized tintype of a younger soldier with tinted cheeks wearing a dark frock coat. There is some resemblance between the two subjects so perhaps they were father and son.
The CDV has good clarity and contrast but there is moderate amounts of surface dirt on the paper and mount. The subject of the CDV does have a scratch running from the bridge of his nose across the forehead.
There is no photographer’s imprint on the reverse only some collector information in pencil. [ad][ph:L]
