CDV is of a rather stern looking older soldier seated in a chair. He wears a dark McDowell style forage cap, dark frock coat and light-colored trousers.
The image may be a period copy of a tintype as under magnification the piping on the cuffs of the frock coat looks to be outlined in gilt which was not normally done on paper images.
Contrast and clarity are very good. The paper and mount are mostly clean but do show some very light surface dirt from age.
Reverse has a photographer’s imprint for D. D. QUINTS… MANCHESTER, N.H. [ad][ph:L]
