Very nice photograph of an unidentified Confederate officer wearing glasses. This is a full standing studio view of the man in uniform. Although no collar rank is visible, the coat is double-breasted and the braid on the sleeves indicates a rank of Major or higher. He holds a slouch hat in his hand and wears a waist belt with a two-piece buckle. Image is clean and clear with good contrast.
Plain mount remains in good, untrimmed condition. The photographer's backmark is Rees & Co., Richmond, Virginia.
From the late William Turner collection. [jet] [ph:L]
