$350.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 1138-1107

CDV is of a Confederate officer posed a la Napoleon with one hand thrust in his coat. He stands behind a low-backed chair on which his slouch hat sits.

The subject wears a light-colored double-breasted frock coat with matching trousers. Barely visible on the collar are the two parallel bars of a 1st lieutenant. He also wears a waist belt with rectangular plate but the plate’s device is not discernable. On the seat of the chair in front of the subject is his dark slouch hat. It looks to be turned up on both sides with the side towards the camera having a button cockade.

Contrast and clarity is fair to good. Paper and mount have light surface dirt.

Reverse has a photographer’s imprint for A. J. RIDDLE’S… RICHMOND, VA. There is also some collector information in pencil at bottom.

From the collection of the late William A. Turner.   [AD] [ph:L]
