CDV is of an unidentified Confederate posed with one arm resting on a table and cradling his foot officer’s sword in his lap. The officer wears a dark frock coat with large three-piece buttons and galloons on each sleeve. He also wears light trousers. At his waist is his sword belt with a two-piece tongue and wreath plate.
Contrast and clarity are very good. Paper and mount are also nice. Unfortunately the glare of the sun on the buttons and belt plate prevent identification of any state seal or decoration on both. There is some minor light speckling on the subject’s jacket and appears to be from dust on the negative when the print was made.
Reverse has a photographer’s imprint for P. L. PERKINS of Baltimore
Image is from the collection of the late William A. Turner. [ad] [ph:L]
