CDV is a waist-up view of an unidentified Confederate lieutenant-colonel. He wears a light-colored double-breasted frockcoat with two stars on the collar. The photographer has tinted the buttons, sleeve galloons and collar rank insignia with gilt.
Contrast and clarity are very good. Mount is a little different than what is usually seen in that it is a bit thicker. Paper has signs of silverfish action on bottom corners but it is not distracting.
Reverse has a faint photographer’s imprint for GEO. S. COOK… CHARLESTON, S.C. there are also a good bit of ink staining on the reverse but these do not affect the front of the card. [ad][ph:L]
