CDV shows a Union captain posed with his arms crossed standing between a low table and the pillar at the end of a balustrade. He wears a dark kepi with infantry hunting horn on the front with a regimental number “5” at center, a dark frockcoat with a black felt collar and captains shoulder straps and light-colored trousers. At his waist is his sash and sword belt with a Model 1850-foot officer’s sword attached.
Contrast and clarity are excellent. Paper and mount are very good.
Reverse has a photographer’s imprint for P. L. PERKINS… No city or state is given but this photographer was in Baltimore, Maryland. Top has blue 2 cent tax stamp dating the image from August of 1864 to August of 1866. [ad] [ph:L]
