Backmark: “E. & H.T. Anthony/ 561 Broadway/ New York.” Gov. Andrews served as the Bay State governor from 1861 through 1866, was responsible for raising some the Union’s  first black regiments, including the famed 54^th Mass. The lithograph cartoon depicts the chubby Governor gamboling against a backdrop of marching “Mass. Colored Volunteers”. The image is sharp & clear with the hint of a few lightly smudged spots in the upper corners. Else VG. Excellent piece for Mass. CW & USCT collectors.
