Image shows a small two-story house viewed from a road running in front of the property. The house has a chimney at center with a partial porch in front. One end of the house looks to be of log construction while the front has clapboards. Off to the left off the image is a smaller house that could be for servants or perhaps it is a summer kitchen. Property looks a bit seedy.
Image clarity and contrast is passable. Mount and paper have only light surface dirt. Bottom of mount has 1862 publication date.
Reverse has a printed label with caption that reads “BRADY’S ALBUM GALLERY NO. 308 – MRS. SPINNER’S HOUSE, BET. STONE BRIDGE AND CENTREVILLE. USED AS A HOSPITAL ON THE 21ST JULY, AND WHERE THE HON. A. ELY, M.C. AND A LARGE NUMBER OF THE FFEDERAL TROOPS WERE MADE PRISONERS, WHEN THE CONFEDERATE CAVALRY CHARGED UPON THEM.” This is followed by more publishing information and a description of the series that the image is part of.
