Post-war CDV image of Beale. Oval chest-up view in civilian clothes. Clear shot with good contrast. Mount remains fine. Elaborate photographer's backmark, Lee Gallery, Richmond, VA. Pencil identifications also on the back.

Beale enlisted into Company C, 9th Virginia Cavalry on May 25, 1861. Quickly promoted to Sergeant. Promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on December 9, 1862. Wounded in the thigh on February 6, 1865.

Died July 15, 1921 (aged 78) and is buried at Coan Church Cemetery, Heathsville, Virginia.   [jet] [ph:L]
