Image is a landscape view of the grave of Confederate General Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson in Lexington, Virginia’s Oak Grove Cemetery. The view shows the Jackson plot surrounded by a wrought iron fence.
The clarity of the image is good but the contrast is a bit light. Mount and paper are excellent.
Reverse is printed with “STONEWALL JACKSON’S GAVE PUBLISHED BY MONUMENTAL PHOTOGRAPH COMPANY, 178 W. BALTIMORE ST, BALTIMORE, MD.” The reverse also has a period ink dedication that reads “LOULIE FROM OGLA.” There is also some collector information in pencil at bottom.
Image is from the collection of the late William A. Turner. [ad] [ph:L]
