Bust view of Sangrain in uniform. He wears a double-breasted frock. Image is clear with good contrast. Mount has been trimmed on all sides. Penciled name twice on front, “Lieut Saugrain.” Photographer’s backmark, John A. Scholten, St. Louis. A green 3-cent revenue stamp is also on the back.
This young lieutenant was an adjutant in the field & staff of the 27th Arkansas Infantry. He enlisted on March 15, 1863.
