Waist-up view of Moore in uniform. He is wearing a double-breasted frock coat with single star on collar (major). Period pencil identification is on back, “Major ___ Blue Moore. Mr. R.C. Burkhart’s brother served in Civil War, Joe Johnston’s staff.” No photographer’s backmark.
J.B. Moore was appointed Captain in quarter master’s department in late 1861. In 1864 listed as QM in General Polk’s department, Army of Tennessee. Chief of field transportation for General Hood in November 1864. Surrendered with Johnston to General Sherman.
