Bust image of a Pollock as a major in uniform with shoulder straps. Image is clear but slightly light. Signed in ink at bottom edge of mount. Mount has been trimmed. Photographer's backmark, Theo. Lilienthal, New Orleans.
He enlisted on 6/19/1861 at Fort Wayne, MI as a Sergeant in Co. H, 6th Michigan Infantry. He was discharged for promotion to Major on 7/4/1863 at Port Hudson, LA, and commissioned into the Field & Staff of the 6th Louisiana Infantry (US) in New Orleans. On 9/3/1863 he was commissioned into Field & Staff of the 99th USCT. Pollock was mustered out on 4/23/1866 at Tallahassee, FL. [jet] [ph:L]
