Very nice clean and clear outdoor CDV of a 32-pdr cannon mounted en barbette being loaded by four soldiers. There are two men ramming the charge while another man thumbs the vent. A fourth gunner stands by holding a handspike. Three officers stand on a raised platform to the rear of the gun. The gun is in a work that overlooks a river. Image is very nice and clean with great contrast. Back mark is spread winged eagle with “McPHERSON & OLIVER.” No city is mentioned but it is known that McPherson and Oliver worked in the area of Baton Rouge, LA
