CDV of a broadside titled “PRESIDENT LINCOLN’S FAREWELL ADDRESS TO HIS NEIGHBORS-SPRINGFIELD FEBRUARY 12, 1861.” Above the title is a drawing of Columbia grieving by the Presidents casket. Above an arch at the top is a sailor seated with one arm rest on cannon while with the other he holds a handkerchief to his face. Opposite the sailor is a soldier in camp with his right forearm over his face while the right hand holds the left arm in place. Below the drawing is the text of the short speech President Lincoln made as his train was leaving Springfield on his way to the White House in 1861.
Publishing information across the bottom dates the card to 1865. There is some light staining on the bottom left edge and some light surface dirt throughout. Reverse has a nice paper label for CASPER M. JONES … INDIANAPOLIS. Back also has some light soiling from age and storage.
