This is a quintessential cab card for the Western collector. Featuring a posing vaquero or cowboy, this gentleman has all the stereotypical trappings of a cattleman in post-Civil War America. His hat is cocked back, his mustached upper lip is contoured around a large cigar, and his hand safely but firmly grasps an iconic Colt revolver. He is dressed in fairly-typical work garments of the period including a bone-buttoned work shirt under a loose coat, wool trousers, and leather boots that show characteristic use. His impressive custom shoulder holster is displayed proudly for all the honest world to see and he is seated confidently in a simple wooden chair.
At the bottom of the card, the text “W.H. Allerton Port Jervis, N.Y.” is written in gold with a light gold border around the edge of the entire card. The reverse is marked by the photographer and reads “W.H. Allerton No. 62 Front Street, Port Jervis, N.Y.”
The length of the card is 6.5” while the width is 4.2”.
A rare chance to collect a truly iconic vestige of American History and Culture. [cm][ph:L]
