Post-war bust view wearing civilian clothing. Printed on the bottom border of the mount is, “GEORGE H. PICKUP, Co. C.”. BM:  Tilton, Worcester, Mass. Period ink inscription on reverse: “Geo. H. Pickup. / Company C 2 N.H.V.”. Overall good condition. Indentation at bottom, perhaps from a photo album. Minor wear and soiling to edges.

Listed online as George W. Pickup, English-born Pickup was a 20 year old resident of Manchester, NH when he enlisted as a private on 5/14/61. Listed as POW on 6/30/62 on White Oak Swamp; wounded on 7/2/63 at Gettysburg. Mustered out on 6/21/64. After the war he lived in Worcester, MA and was a member of GAR Post #10, which bore his name. He died on 3/23/1917 and is buried in Hope Cemetery in Worcester.   [ld]
