Post-war bust view in coat and bow tie. Printed on the bottom border of the mount is, “Sergt. WILSON GRAY, Co. D”. No photographer’s mark. Period ink inscription on reverse: “Wilson Gray / Strafford, NH / Co D, Sargt”.
Overall good condition; light soiling throughout. Half moon impressions on 3 of 4 edges. Moderate creasing and soiling at upper left corner.
Wilson Gray was a 27 year old resident of Strafford, NH when he enlisted on 6/1/61 as a Corporal. On that date he mustered into Co. D, 2nd NH. Promoted to Sergeant 8/11/61. Wounded 5/5/62 at Williamsburg, VA. 10/1/64 promoted to 2nd Lieut. and commissioned into Co. C, 18th NH. Mustered out 6/10/65. Gray died on 6/20/84 in Strafford; buried in Caverly Cemetery in Strafford County. [ld]
