Bust view wearing civilian clothing. Printed at the bottom of the image is “EDWIN N. TAFT, Co. A”. Period ink inscription on reverse: “Edwin N. Taft / Killed May 5th 1862 / at Williamsburg Va. / Co. A.”; in pencil is “Paid 1.00”.
Overall very good condition. Minor scattered wear and staining to edges of mount.
Taft was 27 years old and a resident of Keene, NH when he enlisted on 5/22/61 as a Private. On 5/31/61 he mustered into Co. A, 2nd NH Infantry. He was killed on 5/5/62 at Williamsburg, VA. [ld]
