Post-war bust view wearing civilian clothing. Printed at the bottom of the image is “DRUM MAJOR SHUBAL WHITE, Co. A” Period ink inscription on reverse:  “Shubal White / Co. A 2nd N.H. Vol. / Drum Major”. Photographer’s imprint: E. W. White, Keene, NH.

Overall very fine condition. Minor scattered wear and staining to edges of mount.

Shubael White was a 51 year old resident of Keene, NH when he enlisted as a Principal Musician on 5/22/61. On that date he mustered into Co. A, 2nd NH Inf. Discharged for disability on 9/25/61 at Bladensburg, MD. Re-enlisted and mustered into Field & Staff 6th NH Inf. on 11/28/61. Discharged for disability on 3/3/62 at Roanoke Island, NC. 12/29/63 transferred into “16th” Co. Veteran Reserve Corps 2nd Battn. Discharged for disability on 10/1/64 at Concord, NH. White died on 1/5/1886 and is buried in Woodland Cemetery in Keene.   [ld] [ph:L]
