Item Code: 1032-155

This original post-war image of General Lee mounted on his favorite horse, Traveller, was taken by photographer Michael Miley of Lexington, Virginia while General and Mrs. Lee were visiting the Rockbridge Baths in 1867.

The image captures the General proudly seated on his majestic and beloved mount holding the reins in his left hand while his right arm hangs by is side. The horse stands rigid and in fine form presenting a strong and determined profile.

Contrast is a bit light and there are some minor scattered surface rubs on the emulsion. Most of this rubbing is along the right edge, however one spot does come in slight contact with Traveller’s head. Clarity of the image is good.

The actual image meas. approx. 8.50 x 7.00 inches and framed it meas. approx. 12.00 x 10.00 inches. The wood frame appears to be old but has a new paper backing on the reverse. Item comes ready to hang on the wall.  [ad] [ph:L]
