19th Century frame meas. approx. 8.00 x 10.00 inches with a recessed panel at center for holding a photograph. Photo is of a woman wearing a dark dress with a lace white collar and decorated with buttons and ruffles down the front.

Frame decoration consists of a Muse head wearing a gold gilt scarf at top center flanked by a scrolled arch with floral decoration and an acorn or pomegranate shaped finial. The recess panel that holds the photograph is surrounded by a patten of lines and dots and flanked on either side by cutout columns decorated with large scrolls and angels feather wings. Bottom has a lotus at center with embellished scrollwork. The frame is highlighted throughout with gold gilt paint.

Reverse has a japanned tin plate that swivels to allow access to the photo recess. Forked japanned easel stand is present. There is also an “O” ring for hanging the frame on the wall.

Item has light surface dirt but is in otherwise nice condition.   [ad]
