This albumen photo is still housed in its original oval frame with wood backing. The view shows two Union privates seated side by side with two others standing behind them.

The soldier on the left wears what appears to be a dark commercial sack coat while the soldier on the right wears a dark frock coat. The soldier on the left wears light colored trousers while the other wears dark trousers. Both men have Veterans Service Stripes on their sleeves, both wear dark vests and both hold kepis on their lap. The soldier on the right is also wearing an ID shield or possibly a 9th Corps badge on his chest. From the shape of the shield it looks more like an ID badge of some kind.

Behind the soldiers are two younger fellows. One could even be classified as a young boy. They all look similar and are no doubt brothers.

Image is clear with good contrast and at bottom is a photographer’s mark for William Stroud of Norristown, Pa.

The framed item meas. approx.12.00 x 14.00 inches. Frame has small amounts of chipping and surface dirt from age and storage. Wood panel on reverse needs new points to hold it in place.  [ad]
