Newspaper photograph with label on back, “(MP1) DULUTH, Minn., Aug. 18-A  FINE LIKENESS – Albert Woolson, sole survivor of the Civil War Union Army, poses beside a bronze bust of himself created by Kalervo Kallio (standing), Washington, D.C. sculptor. Kallio, son of the late president of Finland, has no immediate plans for the likeness. He says he undertook the work because of ‘Woolson’s place in history and his remarkable face.’ The 108-year-old soldier called it a ‘fine likeness.’”

A fine photograph. This is not the same artist who created the monument to Albert Woolson that is on the Gettysburg battlefield. That statue was dedicated in September 1956. Woolson posed for that statue, created by famous sculptor Avard Fairbanks. [jet] [ph:L]
