Item meas. approx. 16.50 x 9.50 inches and consists of a linen cheesecloth type material with several rows of letters and numbers.
Across the top is the alphabet from “A-U” in uppercase letters done in brown thread. This is followed by another row finishing the alphabet from “V-Z” in a pink thread. The rest of this line has numbers from 1-9 followed by the small case letters “a-h.” The third line continues the small case letters from “I” through “z.”
Next comes three lines of the alphabet done in cursive letters using pink, red and green thread.
At the very bottom are rows of dots done in light blue, brown, black, maroon and rose colored thread. Sampler looks to be unfinished as there is plenty of room left for more work.
The linen has yellowed with age and a 4 of the letters and numbers are slightly affected by missing thread.
Item will display well by itself or housed in a nice wood frame. [ad][ph:L]
