This Lincoln brooch measures about 1.25 inches in length by 1 inch in length. This brooch appears to be made of a low-grade gold which has been etched and faceted to create its intricate design. The center of the brooch features a gem size etching of Mr. Lincoln’s likeness covered by glass. The photo is mounted in an oval setting with black and gold trim.

The back of the brooch is covered in tin and retains its original T-bar pin and “C” catch. The pin itself has a bend but is otherwise functional.

This piece of memorial jewelry is in great shape with its unique details; the photo is tightly mounted in its housing. There are a few minor pushes and scratches to the reverse. Overall, a really great Lincoln mourning piece!

This brooch comes housed in a small circular leather case with velvet cushion and silk lining. A prior owner of this piece had fastened the brooch to the velvet cushion by pinning it through the velvet leaving small holes in the velvet. The outer leather is vibrant and in good condition with some minor discoloration to the top from wear. The silk lining of the lid is in good condition as well with no tears. It is not certain whether the case is original to the jewelry, but it does make a perfect case for it!  [CLA][PH:L]
