Cockade is made out of four circles of cloth with a Virginia State cuff button at center. The outer piece of cloth is faded red in color. This outer piece meas. approx. 2.75 inches wide. The next piece down is a white circle approx. 2.25 inches wide. This white circle is slightly off center. The next two circles are made of an off white or buff cloth and are 2.00 inches and 1.50 inches across respectively.

At center, holding all the pieces of the cockade together, is a three piece Virginia cuff button that is Tice #VA255A3/Alberts VA18. Button has a lined field with the state coat of arms with “VIRGINIA” across the top and the state motto in a ribbon at bottom. Back mark is “C. WENDLINGER-RICHMOND, VA.” The button is held in place by a cotter pin. All the cloth pieces show light to moderate wear with some staining. The button is in good condition on the face and has light wear to its edge.
