The age of these lead soldiers is not certain. From the condition of the paint they appear to be more recent restrikes of an old pattern but we do not know for sure. The lot comes from a local Gettysburg resident and Licensed Battlefield Guide.
The lot contains 7 two-sided soldiers hand painted and dressed in the blue German uniform of the 1880’s-90’s. Each meas. approx. 3.00 inches tall. 5 of the figures have dark blue trousers while one has white and another red. All wear dark blue tunics and dark pickelhaubes. 4 of the figures are bandsman, one plays the trombone, two play Baritones and one a bass drum. The other three figures carry rifles at todays “left shoulder arms” position.
Paint is in excellent condition with no chips or scrapes. [ad]
