Badge is made of brass with a white enameled front with a plain border. Each of the vertical arms has a small gold triangle on the end. Reverse has “T” bar pin. No maker’s mark of any kind is visible. Badge meas. approx. 1.25 x 1.25 inches. Enamel is good condition with no chipping.

The 18th Corps was created on December 24, 1862 out of troops stationed in North Carolina. The Corps served in North Carolina and Virginia where it was part of the Army of the James. Its battle honors include Kinston, Whitehall, Goldsboro, Siege of Washington, Siege of Suffolk, Quaker Bridge, Gum Swamp, Bachelor’s Creek, Winton, Port Walthall, Arrow-Field Church, Drury’s Bluff, Bermuda Hundred, Cold Harbor, Assault on Petersburg, Battle of the Crater, Chaffin’s Farm and the fall of Richmond.  [ad]
