Elegant machine-sewn bodice features round neckline, double points at the front waistline, and a single point at the center back waistline.  The bodice closes with concealed hooks-and-eyes, with nine gold thread-covered decorative buttons; three buttons are missing.  It has a faux 3-piece back, tiny double piping along the lower edge, and is lined with light tan cotton twill. The open coat sleeves have a twill lining and white silk facings. A pinked and box pleated white silk ruching finishes the inside of the sleeve openings.  Light gray silk passamenterie trimming accents the lower edges and outer seams of the sleeves. The back of each sleeve has been pieced during construction to conserve fabric.

The matching hand-sewn gauged skirt is fully lined in light weight brown polished cotton. There is no pocket. Four rows of gauging threads used as part of the original construction are still intact; the original brown glazed cotton waistband is basted to the back of the gauging. The skirt was altered sometime after the original construction. Several panels of the skirt were removed and the length was shortened by 3½" by raising the hem.  The original wool hem braid was replaced by a 2" wide bias strip of brown velvet.
