This is a delegate badge from the Republican National Convention in Chicago from 1908, the year that Republican William H. Taft was elected the President of the US.
The medal hangar has the White House in the center with an eagle and flag on each side. Hangar has chains attached which hold the shield shaped medal that has, “DELEGATE” at the top of the shield. In the center of the shield it reads, “NATIONAL REPUBLICAN CONVENTION, CHICAGO, JUNE 1908”. The hangar and medal both have a shiny patina.
There are two pins and hooks present on back of hangar. Lower pin holds the red and ivory grosgrain ribbon which hangs down below the medal. There is some surface dirt and fraying at the bottom of the ribbon.
Both hangar and medal each have the maker’s mark engraved on their reverse sides which reads, “THE GREENDUCK CO, ENGRAVERS, CHICAGO”.
