A pair of off- white leather body ladies dress shoes with silk rosettes, dating from the early-19th century. These are in excellent condition considering their age, with very delicate construction techniques and materials. Cotton string ties are sewn into the top edges. This style was prevalent during that early-century period. The pair was no doubt created for a more formal attired occasion (weddings, ballroom dances, etc.) being much too fragile for everyday use about the home or out in the open.
The leather soles are more of a slipper type, with wooden heels. Measuring from heel to toe they are 9” in length and are very narrow in width at 2 1/4”. There is a hand-written marking in the inside of each show, that says, “3 ½”. As stated before, the condition is overall excellent, The only issues are some wear on the top of the toes and some dark scuff marks. Nice examples for an advanced civilian display.
