The interior cover reads "PREPARED FOR THE DEFENDERS OF THEIR COUNTRY BY THE PRESBYTERIAN BOARD OF PUBLICATION / No. 821 CHESTNUT STREET PHILADELPHIA." The book is complete with a soldier's calendar for 1862, prayers, the Ten Commandments, scripture selections, selected psalms, 26 hymns, and Hints to Soldiers.
