Both brass spurs are original, Civil War medium size and void of any visible maker markings. One spur is just slightly larger than its mate. Each spur retains its freewheeling, iron, multi-point rowel in good condition attached to the end of a thick brass, raised neck. The larger spur has lost two points on its rowel. Both spurs are wartime manufacture with characteristic casting flaws and file marks. One spur exhibits casting decoration below the neck. Both spurs present clean flowing lines and are strong and well made. Both artifacts are finished smooth inside and out and measure approximately 5” long. All brass wears a rich bronze patina and appears never to have been cleaned. The smaller spur retains a 14” long piece of leather strap but no buckles or hooks attached. Though mismatched, this set of original Civil War brass boot spurs is a neat cavalry collectable at a great price.
