A very good condition, non-excavated Confederate spur. The heel band has a convex exterior. The neck is rectangular in cross section, rising in a steep arch from upper rear center of the heel band, with the tip slightly rounded off. The strap slots are squared off. There are a number of spots with visible file marks, it being a waste of time to polish them all out. The multi-point iron rowel turns freely and shows just some thin rust. There is a lopsided gap between two of the points where it looks like one may have broken out and the jagged base was then filed down. The spur strap is brown leather showing rubs and wear, but full length, solid and still retaining its iron frame buckle with tongue. This has a great, no-doubt Confederate look- relatively plain, but completely functional, and has a nice simple solution to the broken point on the rowel- simply file it down further so as not to gouge the horse with a rough edge, and ride on.
