U.S. M-1855 SPRINGFIELD BAYONET SCABBARD BY HOOVER & CALHOUN, NEW YORK

$245.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 2024-1711

Original black bridle leather scabbard with frog. This was for the Model 1855 socket bayonet (bayonet not included). The body is in very good condition with just a few scuffs. The seam running up the back shows no breaks or separation of stitching. Brass scabbard tip attached with four tacks; very slightly loose and has some dents.

Arched buff leather frog is in good, but used condition. The frog is seven rivet style and is sewn and riveted to the scabbard. Frog has maker’s mark “HOOVER CA / NEW YO” with remainder covered by rivet and wrinkles in the leather.

A very nice scabbard.   [jet] [ph:L]
