Excellent conditioned leather holster for the Spiller & Burr revolver.
Holster is made of thick leather with the body and flap being formed by one piece of leather and tightly sewn up the back of the body.
The flap and body are decorated with a very pronounced tooled linear decoration. The bottom of the holster still retains its plug.
Reverse has a leather loop approx. 1.50inches wide x 3.75 inches long. The loop is anchored by two copper rivets at top and one at bottom. The loop is also decorated with a tooled line.
Flap has a tab that is integral to the flap. Latch hole is split at bottom. Black iron or brass button top finial is attached and the flap closes properly.
Exterior leather surfaces show light signs of wear and use. Overall the holster is in museum quality condition.
This holster is from the collection of the late William A. Albaugh III who was a well-known collector and author of several volumes on Confederate arms. [ad]
