The leather of this box is in very good condition. There is very little wear and only a few minor scratches. The outer flap is made with the latch tab as an integral part of its shape. This tab shows some use but is in excellent condition. The inner flap is also excellent with both ears and a bold stamping that reads “WATERTOWN ARSENAL 1862” in three lines. Interior has worn lambs wool and the original nipple pick. The body and reverse of the box matches the great condition of the front. Both belt loops are present and in fine shape. Brass finial is present at bottom.
