Measuring 7 x 4 x 1.5”, this box is embossed with “US” with an oval, and is held closed with a brass clasp & finial. It contains two rows of ten canvas loops for twenty .45-70 caliber cartridges, and opens by folding down on a brass hinge. Leather exhibits light wear with slight cracking traces on reverse belt loops, finial strap. Canvas cartridge loops exhibit light staining. 1879 gun tool stiff but workable. Else VG overall. Fine Indian War era McKeever box.
