Very nice conditioned box made by Nece. Outer flap is very good with only the lightest surfaces crackling. Latch tab is integral part of the flap and is solid. Interior flap is also in very good condition with both ears. The face of the inner flap has a Sub-Inspector’s stamp and just below that in one line is “R. NECE.” The body of the box is excellent but the interior has no fleece, only the pick. Reverse has two belt loops, one of which shows moderate wear with some light surface finish loss. Reuben Nece & Co. of Philadelphia had numerous Army contracts for accouterments throughout the Civil War.
