This is a Civil War-era percussion cap pouch. This early pattern has the closing tab as a separate piece sewn to the outer flap. This latch tab is unbroken.

The interior is clean and the inner flap has both “ears” firmly sewn in place. No fleece remains; no pick. Bottom has brass finial. Both narrow belt loops remain in place on back and are stitched in place.  Both belt loops show evidence of use and being on a waist belt. All stitching remains strong and intact. No maker’s stamps. Has old handwritten tag inside reading, "came from Selinsgrove PA".

Leather is in good condition. A very nice Civil War cap pouch.  [jet][ph:L]
