Pattern 1864 US cartridge box in very good condition. The outer flap is boldly embossed “US” and has an oval sub inspector’s stamp on the lower, left corner “R. WHITE”. The latch-tab is stitched and riveted and remains strong and unbroken. The inner flap is unmarked and retains both ears. The implement pouch is complete. The bottom of the box features the typical brass finial and both roller buckles. The belt and sling loops on the back show no signs of wear. Maker’s stamp on the lower back, “S.H. YOUNG / NEWARK, N.J.” The two cartridge tins are complete and remain in the box.
