The outer leather flap of the box shows the expected wear for a piece this old. There is some light crazing with scattered scuff marks, dirt and some surface finish loss. Otherwise, the leather is in nice complete condition. The edge has a faint tooled line with an iron latch that is attached by two iron rivets. Lip of the latch is broken.
The body of the box has leather that is in matching condition. Both ears are present and the ends of the box are decorated with a tooled asterisk shaped star. Bottom of the box has the iron catch for the latch.
Interior has a wood block that can hold twenty-four .69 rounds.
Revers of the box has only one of the two leather loops remaining. [ad] [ph:L]
